Jeffrey Open Space Trail in Irvine
The Jeffrey Open Space Trail in Irvine is one of the most beautiful and reliable outdoor photoshoot locations in Orange County. The park is huge and well maintained, just like the rest of Irvine. There’s plenty of parking and it’s highly accessible for all members of the family from toddlers to grandparents. It’s also great for families who want to bring their four legged family members along and very stroller friendly for those with younger children.
What’s There at this Outdoor Orange County Location?
The location is full of tree lined pathways that create an idyllic backdrop for photoshoots. It’s also a great place to take your holiday photos because certain paths are beautifully covered with leaves. Kids love to gather them up and toss them into the air, guaranteeing genuine smiles and laughter.
Like its name implies, the Jeffrey Open Space Trail has expansive grassy areas for children to run around to their hearts’ content. It’s the perfect spot for a game or two of Red Light Green Light and running into your arms type of photos. There are also plenty of rocks and boulders of different shapes and sizes begging to be climbed. Not only are they fun background props, but climbing and exploring keeps kids engaged and entertained during the photoshoot. This results in joyful and carefree photos that are so much fun for the whole family to look back on.

Besides photoshoots, this location is also great for:
- Walking: Restrooms, benches, and historical markers along pathways make for a comfortable and engaging stroll.
- Jogging and bicycling: The primary trail is well maintained and paved, and goes for as long as 5 miles.
- Walking your dog: Dog waste bag stations and water fountains line the trails.
- Flying kites: Vast grassy spaces make flying kites easy and fun on windy days.
- Picnicking: Spread blankets on the open lawns and under shady trees, or use the picnic tables within the citrus grove.
A Personal Favorite as a Mom and Orange County Photographer
My own family loves to hang out at the Jeffrey Open Space Trail. My girls love to romp and play in the vast, clean grassy areas. One of my favorite memories is eating pupusas with them on picnic blankets under the sun dappled trees. While I snapped endless photos of them, they ran around blowing bubbles (love this brand since they’re no spill) and played tag with one another. When the wind picked up, they flew the pinkest butterfly kite anyone ever did see with their daddy and I’ve never seen bigger smiles on their little faces.
